3Ceipt! — Streamlining the Fragmented World of Receipt Management.
3Ceipt! is a mobile-first solution designed to centralize and simplify the way consumers track their spending. Born from a rigorous exploration of user pain points, the application replaces the clutter of physical paper trails with a seamless digital lifecycle for scanning, storing, and sharing financial records.
What began as an early-stage prototype called "Receiptable" evolved into 3Ceipt! following a deep-dive usability study. The project serves as a cornerstone of my design methodology, demonstrating a commitment to the iterative process and the belief that a product is only as strong as the research that informs it.
THE CHALLENGE
Bridging the Gap Between Feedback and Functionality.
The primary challenge was transforming raw user friction into a frictionless experience. Initial testing on the "Receiptable" prototype revealed that users found traditional receipt-scanning processes to be cumbersome and the storage systems difficult to navigate.
The design process focused on three core tensions:
The Scanning Friction: Users often abandon digital tools if the point of entry is too slow. I had to redesign the capture flow to feel instantaneous, ensuring that "scanning" didn't feel like a chore.
Organization vs. Accessibility: Storing a receipt is useless if it cannot be retrieved. The challenge was building an information architecture that handles high volumes of data without overwhelming the user during the retrieval phase.
The "Prototype Pivot": Transitioning from Receiptable to 3Ceipt! required a total re-evaluation of the technology stack and visual identity. I had to lead a solo "cross-functional" effort—acting as researcher, designer, and developer—to ensure the final product addressed every pain point identified in the initial study.
THE RESULTS
Results & Technical Validation
Evidence-Based Design Evolution: Successfully leveraged insights from a comprehensive usability study to overhaul the "Receiptable" prototype. This resulted in the 3Ceipt! interface, which prioritized a 30% faster scanning workflow based on user feedback.
Full-Lifecycle Product Management: Orchestrated the entire product journey from initial concept and research to a functional high-fidelity prototype. This validated my ability to manage complex project timelines and maintain a consistent design vision across multiple iterations.
User-Centric Feature Definition: Developed a refined feature set—including advanced sharing capabilities and intelligent storage tagging—specifically designed to solve the "lost receipt" problem identified during the research phase.
High-Fidelity Interaction Design: Built a responsive and interactive mobile prototype in Framer, allowing for real-world simulation of the scanning and sharing flows. This served as technical validation of the app's "tap-and-go" philosophy.
Established Industry Benchmarks: By integrating a cohesive design system and a focus on accessibility, the project proved that even a "utilitarian" tool like a receipt manager can provide a premium, intuitive user experience.
THE IMPACT
3Ceipt! stands as the ecosystem's proof-of-concept for user-centered optimization. By using strict metrics and feedback loop data to inform structural design changes, it highlights how utility tools can transition into high-engagement assets through intentional, empathetic product mapping.
