ABOUT
GroceryGo! — Bridging the "Last Ten Feet" of Retail Navigation.
GroceryGo! is a spatial navigation SDK that transforms the chaotic experience of big-box shopping into a streamlined, guided journey. While digital maps have mastered the outdoors, indoor wayfinding remains a major friction point for consumers.
This project leverages a proprietary AI engine to translate natural language shopping lists into precise aisle and bay coordinates. By delivering a high-fidelity 2D map and an intuitive "Locator" compass, the platform optimizes the shopper’s route in real-time. Originally conceived as a consumer app, the product was re-engineered as a white-label SDK to integrate natively within existing retail ecosystems, allowing brands like Safeway or Target to offer premium wayfinding without requiring a separate app download.
THE CHALLENGE
The "Indoor Blind Spot" in Retail Tech.
The average shopper spends over 40 minutes in-store, often retracing their steps due to inconsistent layouts and generic signage. Despite the ubiquity of smartphones, digital tools often become useless the moment a user crosses the threshold of a physical store.
The design process addressed three primary tensions:
The Semantic Gap (Natural Language vs. Spatial Data): Users don't search for "Aisle 4, Bay 12"; they search for "organic salsa." The challenge was building an interface that bridges the gap between fuzzy human mental models and the rigid coordinates of a store’s floor plan without increasing cognitive load.
Architectural Scalability: No two retail environments are identical. The system required a flexible UI framework capable of rendering diverse store topologies—from narrow grocery aisles to vast hardware warehouse bays—using a unified, automated design system rather than manual, bespoke layouts.
The Distribution Barrier: In an era of "app fatigue," users are unlikely to download a standalone tool for a weekly errand. The product had to solve the business challenge of distribution by shifting from a B2C model to a B2B "plug-and-play" SDK that meets users inside the apps they already trust.

THE RESULTS
Results & Technical Validation
Strategic Architecture (B2B Pivot): Successfully re-engineered the product from a consumer-facing app to a white-label SDK. This demonstrated a "platform-first" mindset, solving for distribution by allowing the technology to integrate natively into established retailer ecosystems rather than competing for individual user installs.
AI-Driven Data Automation: Developed a proof-of-concept for a "zero-maintenance" mapping system using OpenAI. By leveraging natural language processing to categorize items (e.g., mapping "taco shells" to the "Hispanic Foods aisle"), the project proved that retailers could implement wayfinding without the prohibitive cost of manual inventory mapping.
Interactive Spatial UX: Researched and prototyped a 2D "Locator" map to solve the "last-ten-feet" wayfinding problem. Testing with a representative user flow confirmed that the visual compass and bay-specific routing significantly lowered the cognitive load compared to traditional text-based aisle lists.
End-to-End Functional Delivery: Completed a fully functional prototype—from the Sales Dashboard to the live navigation SDK—built on an emergent AI-assisted coding platform. This served as a validation of rapid prototyping capabilities and the ability to bridge the gap between high-level design and technical implementation.

THE IMPACT
GroceryGo! advances the Get2 ecosystem by demonstrating how intentional, spatial UX can eliminate friction from chaotic physical environments. By bridging the retail "last ten feet" blind spot, it sets a new standard for how our digital tools actively optimize real-world user journeys.
